Sarah Elizabeth Yorke is a theatre director, producer, actor, and educator at the forefront of new work development and contemporary theatre-making. A native of Pennsylvania’s Coal Region and the Creative Producer at Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble, she is recognized for her innovative, human-centered approach to storytelling and arts leadership. Sarah holds an MFA in Directing and an MA in Arts Administration from Ohio University, as well as a BA in Theatre Arts from Virginia Tech.
With over 40 productions across professional, collegiate, and youth theatre, Sarah’s work is driven by sensory awareness, radical empathy, and interdisciplinary collaboration, creating rehearsal rooms that are daring, inclusive, and artist-forward. Her recent directing and producing credits include Spring Awakening, Athena, The Little Prince, Ride the Cyclone, Concord Floral, Htler’s Tasters*, and The Wake of Ur Problematic Fav Prty Grl, a new work that garnered attention in New York City and at the 2023 Edinburgh Festival Fringe. This spring, she will direct Heather Chrisler’s Little Women at Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble.
A sought-after acting coach with nearly eight years of experience, Sarah is known for her ability to cultivate bold, emotionally intelligent performances and to meet artists at every stage of their development. Her coaching has supported actors in securing roles at leading regional theatres and admission to top-ranked training programs. A former full-time faculty member at Virginia Tech, she has taught interdisciplinary courses that integrate theatrical practice into broader fields, championing creativity as a tool for connection, innovation, and social impact.
Through her leadership, directing, and pedagogy, Sarah continues to push the boundaries of what theatre can be—centering humanity, amplifying new voices, and shaping the future of the American theatre landscape.
